About Me

My photo
I'm Coralyn, a Californian native. I am mother to a crazy 4 year old girl named Madison, a baby on the way, and a wrinkly Shar-pei. My husband is in the Army and we have moved from California to Hawaii and from Hawaii to beautiful Colorado. I'm a stay at home mom and student/art major. I love painting and drawing and hope to share some of these things with you throughout my blog along with other random moments in my life.

Tsunami

So this morning at 6 am sirens went off all over Oahu for a Tsunami warning. All morning the grocery stores were packed, the gas pumps had lines for days, and we got a call from Matt's chain of command telling us not to leave post.

Luckily, NOTHING happened. It was a little windy today, but other than that the waves weren't any different than normal. A total waste of a beautiful sunny saturday in Hawaii. Very lame.

I wasn't freaking our at all because with out crazy weather here on island we always have plenty of canned food, candles, army glow sticks, and we always try to keep our gas tank atleast 1/2 full (not that we can drive off this island). Schofield is located in a valley next to big Kole Kole mountain smack dab in the middle of the island, so we're usally pretty safe (except mudslides) but the Army would move us if they didn't think we were safe. Still yet, it was nice having our families check up on us, showing that they cared.

I paid 5 bucks to be a loser

So, yesterday I joined this Schofield Barracks Fitness Challenge. Basically it's like The Biggest Loser, where everyone pitches in 5 bucks, and spends 6 (I think) weeks trying to get in shape and the person who loses the highest percentage of body fat wins the pot. Basically there's only one rule, NO DIET PILLS. So since I've been working out and eating so well and what not (4 pounds to go, yay!!) I decided that this challenge would be the perfect motivation as well as a great way to meet other ladies out here. I'm still continuing my coach to 5k which I am currently on week 4, but I'll also be joining this group when they work out on a weekly basis (fun!).

While I've been trying to lose weight, Madison has been packin' on the pounds and growing soooo fast! I've been throwing on outfits on her left and right, just so she's able to wear each outfit at least once before she out grows it. She's already on size 3 diapers, her teeth are starting to come in, and I recently started her on solid foods because she's been sitting up so well on her own. Soon she'll be graduating to the big tub because she's starting to outgrow the infant one. I'm so happy watching her grow, nothing could be more fulfilling right now.

Between working out, family, and harvesting my crops in farmville (shhh...) I've recently have dug up old photos. I absolutely hate clutter so basically I'm going through the process of organizing and scrapbooking all these photographs. Anything that is not being scrapbooked is going to be put into a regular photo album. This is going to be A LOT of work, seeing how I have 43924392420 photos. We have a giant walk in closet that you can't even see the floor of at the moment because as I am "organizing" these photos. I can't help it! Flashbacks and memories come flooding in of childhood, high school, and even my wedding. Not to mention, I've been finding photos of my mom that I haven't seen in such a long time, I can bear to put them away again just yet.

Hard to believe I hate clutter, huh?

(this is my desk, under all this mess somewhere)

So far I finished 1 page of scrapbooking before I realized I need a new glue stick, some scissors and a lot of random items (such as the blade to my paper cutter) have disappeared in the move from California to Hawaii. Thus I need to find a craft store out here sometime soon.

Where am I supposed to shop?

Umm. I need new clothes.
but err... I dont know where I'm supposed to shop?
Let's see. I'm about to turn 23.
I feel weird shopping where I used to shop, because I feel like I'm not dressing my age
BUT
If I shop at older people stores, I feel like I'm dressing like someone in their 40's.
Where do people in their 20's shop that has nice quality clothing?

The Big Kid Track..

Run Matt, Run!!

I decided to try running on the all weather track we have on post. I invited Matt to join Madison and I. He didn't even run with us. He thinks he's super cool because he runs track and field, and has special track shoes, and can run without wheezing--whatever! Me and Madison look super cool with our triwheeled stroller with our intervals of running and walking. So what if my pants are too loose and I have to keep on readjusting the drawstring while I run? (darn you old navy yoga pants!). We so didn't need him. So what if he lapped us like 6 times! show off...

"After all, tomorrow is another day.. "

Madison refuses to use a bottle. She hates the bottle with a passion. She would rather cry and cry until she is so exhausted that she falls asleep hungry. She likes to be nursed. She absolutely loves the boobie.

So I tried giving her a sippy cup. She did better with the sippy cup than she did with the bottle. However, to her it is a play thing rather than a food sourse. But at least she doesnt cry at the site of it. Hopefully she'll get used to it and take it for a feeding or two a day. It would be nice to have a break from constantly nursing with her, although I do love the bond we share from it.

I stayed up late last night because I had been in a bit of a slump all day. The baby and Matt were asleep and I needed some me time. I recieved "Gone with the Wind" on bluray. Aware that it was like a 4 hour movie, I still wanted to watch it. It really is such a good movie.

I really like the name Scarlett. If I had another daughter I would consider naming her Scarlett, but probably wouldn't because I wouldn't want her to become spoiled and manipulative.

Apparently there's a sequel to "Gone with the Wind" and the book as well. Has anyone read it? Is it good? I don't know if I'm interested in reading it because I heard that Scarlett gets Rhett back in the end, and I really don't feel that the original author wanted it to end that way.. I'm pretty sure Scarlett is never ment to be content and she's always suppose to be chasing after something.

Watching "Gone with the Wind" makes me want to be nicer to Matt when he makes me upset, just incase he gets tired of my bullcrap and decides to move to London or something.

Valentine's Day

Matt, Madison, and I celebrated Valentines day on the 13th instead of the 14th (the restaurants here can get kind of crazy on this little island). Valentines day has never really been a big deal to me, and I've never really gotten anything for anyone on this particular holiday. That was until Matt told me he was bummed I never got him a valentine's day card. So this year I decided to get him a card and a gift.

this was the card I got him, I felt it was appropriate since I always drag Matt to go shopping with me.

Matt tried to surprise me with a George Foreman grill. Ever since my mother in law got one for Christmas I've been wanting one really bad. Since Matt eats the food I cook him, it's a win win situation. He hid the huge box on the garage. While he was washing the Explorer the other day, I walked in and found it on accident so I got to have it early :)

I hardly got any sleep last night because Madison decided she wanted to play at 4am. I was exhausted, so Matt woke up around 8 and took the baby for me so I could sleep in a bit more. I woke up to Madison smiling in my face, a dozen red roses, some balloons and a sweet card from my husband. It was a total surprise because I thought the George Foreman grill was my gift already. I have an awesome husband he did a great job making me feel special.

Matt's friend Zwerg came over, and we all went to the beach for a few hours. Madison sat up for a long time on her own, and ate sand for the first time. The guys rented kayaks for an hour, then we headed home.
